Middle Township - I love sports for many reasons. Played many of them. Two in college. Teamwork, practice, exercise, learning, challenging, and learning to win and lose. I root for the home team. But i can't justify the salaries earned today compared to how we treat nurses, teachers, civil servants, poll workers....$700 million to play a sport and retire at 35... In most states the highest paid state employee is State schools sports coaches. By a lot. It is an example of our priorities as citizens and to where our minds and intelligence have wandered off to. Sports are great. But so is knowledge and service.
