Middle Township - The Herald's argument for extending Rt 55 doesn't hold any water. Rt 55 does not need to be extended and it won't be. The Rt 55 extension isn't needed for any evacuation. The parkway and AC expressway already provide an easy fast evacuation route. Evacuate from what too? A hurricane? There would be plenty of time to evacuate without wasting tax dollars on the extension. There also is no shortage of shoobies even without the extension.

Moderator's Note:
Have you been on those highways in the tourist season, with cars bumper to bumper for long periods of time? Don't think that only "shoobies" would need to leave in a real dire emergency. Did you watch the attempt to exit New Orleans on I-10 before Katrina? Hopefully, you are wrong about Route 55 never being built and that you are not caught in a hurried attempt to escape any hurricane.
