Middle Township - Art Hall is right about tolls being part of NJ's problem. Tolls are the most expensive way to fund roads and the toll plazas are a safety hazard. EZ Pass makes billing "mistakes" all of the time too. Raising the gas tax a little would be a far cheaper and more efficient way to fund highways. Abandoning tolls would get federal funds for NJ like Hall said. All of the redundant highway authorities could be eliminated. Tolls were never meant to be permanent. Much of the toll revenue just goes towards toll collection expenses and staff. Eliminate all tolls on all NJ highways.
