In a time when money is tight in these small shore towns, why are we giving promotions every time another high-paid officer retires? There was a time when a promotion was based on performance. These promotions are just another hardship township residents are forced to fund. Some of these cops who have received these promotions may deserve them. The ones I have dealt with should go back and let the Class II officers show them how to deal with the public. A promotion in Middle does nothing except cost the taxpayers more money. Class II officers have more common sense.
