Many know the west has a water shortage problem and the latest opposition to data centers revolve around water. Residential outside condensing units use air, however commercial applications like data centers and large buildings use cooling towers. While more efficient, they operate in an open air environment, so a not insignificant amount of that water is lost to evaporation. People around the country are starting to question if this will raise water rates since these data centers are enormous and have extreme cooling needs. Memory, metals, electricity, water. They want it. Price ^^^
