All 3 smiling, but the story of the 2 young women that became friends in basic training and sadly, unfortunately and in my opinion unnecessarily, died together, is perhaps the saddest of all. They were there because they loved their country, as do I. I’m not a soldier, but I’ve met a few from past work. Dedicated, professional, well educated. These women had a bright future. Gone. We hear standards will be lowered. Why not raise standards for the public that cannot meet them? Prepare people earlier. We had exercise we were ready.
