All firemen, but especially volunteers, are to be respected and admired and I’m glad the Herald published an article suggesting more people volunteer. For people that are on the fence about volunteering, look at it this way: your going to meet people that will enhance your experience, may discover you love it, and perhaps will be hired as a paid fireman. It’s a skill that can be transferred anywhere, and one of the few jobs where results are clearly seen, and there should be no political interference because a fire is either ablaze or its not.
