Lower Township - A spout from Avalon about consolidation is right on the mark. N.J. has home rule which translates into the taxpayers subsidizing redundancy in gov. Cape May County, for instance, has 16 municipalities, many of which have separate police departments, zoning boards, planning boards, courts, etc. Think of all the attorneys who are employed, making a minimum of $125 an hour. Consolidation would mean more direct gov. without the higher position redundancy. 600 school districts is also ridiculous. We need more teachers and less administration. Nonsense rules in N.J., not cents for taxpayers.
