Lower Township - To the person asking about retreat houses: The Sisters who owned the Point building, built in 1889 as a 150-room hotel with no heat/AC, found it too big and costly to keep. A CM local bought it and converted it into the CM Point Science Center. The Sisters then opened a small retreat house in Sea Isle and bought a newer 35-room building for year-round use in Ocean Grove. The Sisters who owned the Stone Harbor house had the same problem: a building with no heat/AC, too big and costly to maintain. They tore it down and replaced it with a building that accommodates 50 year-round. Hope this helps.
