Lower Township - NJ residents shouldn't be financially obligated to protect barrier island and coastal properties with beach replenishment. No one is forcing people to live by the ocean. If houses are washed away into the ocean, so be it. Wasting millions of tax dollars by repeatedly pumping sand on the beach to protect mansions of rich people only to have it wash away is ridiculous. Taxpayers don't have responsibility to prop up the tourism industry either. It's long overdue to stop beach replenishment. There will always be a beach even without beach replenishment!
