Recently, a party of eight went to a local restaurant for a get-together dinner. We are locals and supporting our local businesses is important. The dinner was good and we all enjoyed a great time, however the check was paid without noticing that a 20 percent gratuity was already added. The waitress received an additional 20 percent on top of the automatic gratuity. The hostess or server should advise a party in advance of their policy. Forty percent tip for service is way out of line. Buyer beware with the check.
