I’ve noticed several posts lately acting like it’s too difficult to accommodate autistic children and adults, as if basic inclusion in our schools, workplaces, and businesses is an impossible hardship. It’s important to remember that this is the exact same rhetoric once used to justify excluding people in wheelchairs or those with Down syndrome and cerebral palsy. It took over 20 years of relentless protesting to pass the ADA in 1990. History shows that what some call an inconvenience is actually a hard won civil right. Accessibility isn't a suggestion; it’s the law.
