In 2022, The Center for Effective Lawmaking studied the impact of not holding local town halls for legislators’ constituents - those lawmakers who did not hold open in person town halls were less effective legislators. Those who did hold them were more effective at addressing local concerns. Why? Because they take the time and opportunity to listen to their communities’ concerns. Our current congressman refuses to hold live town halls. What’s that say about him and the need for change?
