Implicit bias is well documented. People often fail to recognize dismissive patterns toward marginalized groups precisely because those patterns have been normalized over time. The inability to see rhetoric that others clearly identify is not evidence that it doesn't exist. It is evidence of how deeply ingrained that bias is. Dismissiveness rarely announces itself. That is what makes it so effective and so hard to challenge.
