I think it’s time employees consider whether they have the right representation. The AFSCME union continues to show a lack of understanding when it comes to the realities of local government negotiations. Some representatives appear to lack a full understanding of what can and cannot be done within public-sector operations, budgets, and regulations. Time and time again, AFSCME seems to be the union left still negotiating after others have reached agreements and moved forward. Representation requires knowledge, preparation, and solutions not simply opposing management without understanding the other side.
