I genuinely struggle to understand the persistent push by some officials and homeowners to allow more hotels in Avalon. The town’s charm has always come from being a true beach community defined by its homes, not by commercial lodging. There are already plenty of hotel‑centric towns nearby for those who want that experience. On top of that, there’s an increasing effort to host free concerts, events, and activities aimed at both Avalon and surrounding communities. But why? This isn’t about being exclusive—it’s simply a matter of capacity. Our venues cannot support that level.
