Hurricane Katrina was 20 years ago. The area has never fully recovered, and should’ve never been rebuilt. The corp of engineers is still reinforcing levees and dredging dikes. In addition, New Orleans is sinking 2 inches a year, and the water level is rising 1/2 inch per year. By the middle of the century, the system put in place will be overflowing. If another big hurricane hits, it’ll be just as devastating.
