Erma - Lower Township saved taxpayers about $50,000 a year by privatizing animal control. Over the past three years, that equals a total of $150,000. In addition to that, it relieves the township of liability from any employee as animal control is a high insurance workman's comp liability. The officials have not only done well by saving the taxpayers money but by providing quality service which is easily controlled by contractual obligation and ethical responsibility in the contract.
