Erma - I remember a college marketing course years ago that discussed how products came into the market. The explanation then was that products were marketed by the wishes of the consumer and the manufacturer would react to their wishes. That was the case when the consumer understood the value of money. With the clueless consumer of today who wants instant satisfaction, the value of money no longer matters with the swipe of a card. Products today are massively advertised with all the bells and whistles, and the consumer can't get enough, that feeds the appetites of the other indebted consumers.
