Is a hero made or are they created?

Erma - Is a hero made or are they created? This is a question that seems to come to light with the death of the U.S. Supreme Court justice. I guess it depends on one's political or personal philosophy. The conservatives would say he was a real saint. The liberals would say he was close-minded and mean-spirited. How does a hero get to his position of reverence? Is it through individual hard work, or is it being a yes person to the system, or a combination of both? Donald Trump works hard, but isn't a yes man, so can he ever be a hero? Or is hard work appreciated for being himself?
