Diamond Beach - To the Crest spouter talking about young kids walking/riding home alone: I have witnessed this too. Once they get past the crossing guards, they don't look for cars or anything. I nearly hit a child running across Washington one day. He came out from between two cars and never looked before crossing over to his home.
