Dennisville - As a veteran, son of veterans and father of career military children, I am highly offended that at least two spouters have voiced the opinion that local young people are joining the military on default of finding civilian jobs. Joining the military is not only a fantastic way for young people to mature and learn career and leadership skills, it is also a great service to our country and a noble act sacrificing the easy civilian life for one of hard work, responsibility and even danger. My children could have had any civilian job they wanted, but they chose to serve.
