I empathize with the parent who spouted about the number of local youth joining the military for lack of a better option. I was anxious during the years that my children were of military age, but now that they're grown, that doesn't make me less concerned for other people's children. Whenever I see a war veteran in a wheelchair, my heart goes out to them.
