Dennis Township - Be very careful when cleaning out old documents! In 2021, I disposed of 30 years of old bills including my children's old student loans and my cancelled checks and statements. In late 2023, Navient sent me a bill for over $10,000 for a $7000 loan(plus interest from 2015 to 2023) that was paid off in 2015! An agent from my bank said the bank doesn't have records older than seven years, so I had nothing but my check register as proof. I had to pay that money again. So think twice before discarding, and scan anything you might need for proof in case something happens to your originals.
