Dennis Township - All the dogs, cats and other domestic animals in Sen. Van Drew's hometown of Dennis Township greatly appreciate his sponsored bill to strengthen animal cruelty laws. Under this legislation, it would be a violation of state law to leave domestic animals out in temperatures below 32 and above 90 degrees. It would also make it a criminal act to tether dogs outside overnight, and to use choker collars and short tether lines. This law gives real teeth for police officers to directly intervene and make court cases. And it forces the hand of reluctant municipalities to address animal abuse.
