The proposed housing development on Indian Trail is a perfect candidate for the Open Spaces program. With the development approved the value of the land has increased, and the habitat destruction imminent. This is exactly the thing that the Open Spaces funding was designed to counteract. Instead, we are funding flower beds and lifeguard stations on the barrier islands and tax payers will be stuck with building and staffing another school. And the County Commissioners say we don't need transparency. I couldn't disagree more.
