I seem to remember that when Irene was getting close they ran both lanes of Rt 47 northbound (southbound traffic ran on the southbound shoulder.) Or that might have been Sandy. Whichever it was it seemed to work fine. No hysteria. No panic. No injuries. No need for Rt55.
