Constables would do nothing to help prevent crime in Dennis Township, hence why they were nixed before. They had no arrest powers, no ability to stop vehicles, and no way to protect themselves. They were basically neighborhood watch in vehicles. I do agree there needs to be something done, as there are increasing amounts of burglaries and thefts. Sadly, it will take someone being hurt or killed for anything to be done. Dennis, Upper, and Woodbine are the only communities in the county without their own police force. On the other hand, nobody wants a tax increase.
