The community support for constables in Dennis Township is not pie-in-the-sky. We had them years ago, and they were disbanded due to budget cuts. They were a presence on our streets patrolling in a DT-owned Jeep, and they did security assignments, traffic assignments, and other general police duties. It is time to hire retired police officers and return them as a layer of public safety to assist NJSP. Granted this is a limited "police powers" position, and a part-time PD is really a better option, but the "politics" here will never establish a PD. Constables are affordable!
