This kind of talk comes from people like Sean Hannity and Donald Trump who are the holders of economic power, and want to keep it! They do not like 21st century technological changes and the idea of a "knowledge economy". It threatens their grasp of power and money. They like to tell people stuff like "coal mining jobs are coming back", instead of telling people the truth of how the world is evolving.
