Criminality is so rampant inside CBP that it has seen one of its own agents or officers arrested every 24 to 36 hours since 2005. Approximately 4,913 CBP officers and Border Patrol agents were arrested between 2005 and 2024. Reports indicate a rate of misconduct five times higher than other federal law enforcement agencies. These arrests frequently involve alcohol, drugs, domestic issues, and, in many cases, "mission compromising" corruption. The crime rate of CBP agents and offices was higher per capital than the crime rate of undocumented immigrants.
