Why is it that when you VOTE in NJ you don’t need to provide act

Court House - Why is it that when you VOTE in NJ you don’t need to provide actual ID proof ? But to cash a check I do have to provide proof and even at 70 years old I have to show proof of age to buy adult beverages and many other times.
