Court House - Skunks feast on rodents, insects and grubs, and thrive where rodents are available, like grassy dunes. Where efforts have been made to control cats which also seek out rodents, the population of skunks increases to the level of available rodents and grubby insects. Seal off possible denning areas. Secure your garbage. Walk your dog on a leash from sunset to dawn. Close your pet door. The brown rat can birth 22 babies every 30 days. Skunks are probably responsible for controlling them. Some skunks are protected. Few can be relocated. Stop destroying habitats and respect life.
