Court House - In order to pass the Voting Rights Act, Lyndon B. Johnson sought the help of arch conservative Estes Kefauver, from the south. There is a recording in which LBJ, in his folksy way, told Estes that he had to support the bill because LBJ had gotten some important things for Kefauver’s state. Someone needs to tell Kamala Harris, whom I like, that sometimes we have to work with people whose ethics we do not care for but who can help us get things done.
