Has anyone else had trouble with the new HID headlights on vehic

Court House - Has anyone else had trouble with the new HID headlights on vehicles, also known as high-intensity discharge lights? At night, I am blinded from oncoming vehicles and it feels like a laser beam burning out my retinas. From behind, the lights reflect off my rear view mirror, illuminating the inside of the car and making it impossible to see the road. Are these lights even legal in New Jersey? Should I give up and buy some sporty sunglasses and pop a few Advil when driving?
