Court House - Democrats realize that Cheney is purely anti-Trump, hence the “enemy of my enemy is my friend” (for the moment, out of convenience). However, Democrats also realize that if it is DeSantis running, Liz will most likely vote for him, and stay out of the fray. So, Democrats will not vote for Cheney if she runs, knowing her intent is only to syphon Republican votes from Trump, and not to win. And she will do exactly that to a disproportionate degree over any Democrats or Independents who may vote for her. Heads we win, tails, you lose.
