Court House - At the Christmas parade, I heard the township wants to start charging non-profits for the donation bins. So predictable. Keep taxes low, but create or increase fees to produce revenue. Maybe Middle should start the shake down with for-profit businesses and charge them a mercantile fee. Non-profits support the endeavors of other public services when they fall short, and they are because the mantra today is “do more for less." Leave the non-profits alone!

Moderator's Note:
According to Middle Township Mayor Tim Donohue, "There has been no discussions of a fee. We are exploring regulating the size, location and number of collection bins in Middle Township. This would be done to ensure that these are truly non-profits and that local, non-profit agencies are given priority. We need to ensure that the placement of these bins does not violate the original planning board approvals for businesses. For instance, if a business is required to have 10 parking spaces and these bins are taking up two of them, they are in violation. We have received numerous complaints about the unsightly proliferation of these bins. We are responding by exploring our options. There is no money grab here."
