Call me callous, but why are our taxes for school funding paying

Court House - Call me callous, but why are our taxes for school funding paying to feed the students? What happened to breakfast at home and a packed lunch? I opted out of having children, realize that schools are imperative, and agree that funding is suffering; however, where is the responsibility of the parent to feed their own children? Perhaps they should not become parents if they can't afford to nourish their offspring? Maybe more funding could be allocated to classes and materials if the state didn't have to provide food, the most basic of things that children need!
