The problem with some people’s concept of “free speech” is that they think it means they are “free” to say anything they like (which they are), while simultaneously demanding to be indemnified from any consequences arising from what they say. You can’t have your cake and eat it too. You are indeed free to say anything you like, that’s the easy part. Owning what you say, and being responsible for it, is what some people seem to have a problem with. Free speech is not freedom from consequences of that speech. Suppression and accountability are two different things.
