Perhaps those who are complaining about the proposed tax increase related to the school referendum slated for September could instead direct their anger towards budget-makers who voted to increase state aid for Avalon schools by almost 2.4% while cutting Middle Township's school aid by 4.5%. Middle is the only district in Cape May County whose student population is increasing and is already the 10th most cost-efficient school in the state. How does this make sense on a fiscal, much less ethical, level?
