My husband has a college degree and years of experience, but was laid off due to downsizing. He is awaiting unemployment, but still applying for jobs. He has no criminal record and great references. He has put in many applications all over the county, even up into central N.J. When he follows up, they tell him they are still taking apps/interviews. Some places have been using this excuse for two or more months. Why advertise you are hiring if you don't set up interviews or call people back who have applied/interviewed to let them know the outcome? No wonder people get discouraged!
