I appreciated the Herald’s recent op-ed on homeschooling, but the author should have consulted with an actual homeschooler. We would have told you there are other sources for extracurricular sports besides the public schools (including the taxpayer-funded rec centers). Homeschoolers are usually wary of public accommodations, because regulations inevitably follow. That’s why we have our own resources and support systems. If the author isn’t going to try and understand us, they should take their half-baked arguments elsewhere.
