Got a car in a private transaction and had to go to DMV to title and register it in person. Filled out forms online, made an appointment which was honored on time, and dealt with a friendly and competent clerk. In and out in less than 30 minutes. I read about the problems dealing with the DMV, but you cannot prove them by my experience.
