The front page of the Herald Feb. 10 shows a picture of the replacement steel poles in Avalon. I understand that they are structurally superior to the old, wooden poles and that they are estimated to last a century, but they look terrible. This is nothing more than ACE following internal guidelines for pole replacement without any consideration for aesthetics. This solution is ripe for a lawsuit against ACE, requiring them to remove and replace them with underground cables at their expense.
