This county will never have affordable Housing. It is the small landlords who can make it happen. Using small garages and non-conforming structures, they can easily be converted into basic one- and two-bedroom units at very reasonable construction costs. Rent could be in the $ 500 to 1,000 Dollar range. But with zoning laws that punish entrepreneurs who can accomplish this, endless regulations, with demands of surveys, engineering studies, lawyers, and others who give unneeded opinions and conclusions, our happy parade of permit fees and other costs, we have unaffordable housing.
