Cape May Court House

Besides being a waste of tax dollars, beach replenishment destroys the ocean's habitat for fish and other marine organisms that are part of the food chain. Constant dredging kills large numbers of bottom dwelling (benthic) marine organisms, such as clams, worms, small fish, etc. It does cause tremendous damage. Fish-holding structures are being obliterated for tourists. Some of the best fishing areas are being ruined so sand can be pumped on the beaches to protect second homes owned by people who don't even live here. It's time to have the courage to stop beach replenishment!
