Cape May - The wording of the Lower Cape May Regional School funding question on the Nov. 4 ballot distorts the intent of the people of Cape May. It was never our intent to change the funding formula to solely reflect the number of students, but rather to arrive at a middle ground to more equitably share the cost of education. I believe the wording of the question on the ballot, and the extreme financial consequences it presents, was intentionally worded to elicit a "No" vote. The 1993 N.J. law that ended the property assessment funding requirement allows for alternate funding methods.
