Cape May - Theodore "Teddy" Roosevelt is the first president to ride publicly in an automobile. Not only that, but it was an electric car which he rode, all the way back in 1902. Republican leaders were riding the wave of new technology even back then. Leave it to “the Driving Force,” “the Rough Rider,” to ride in an electric car over a century before electric cars were even a thing.
