Cape May - Patrons who choose to eat at the bar should remember that tipping guidelines still apply. Many patrons think leaving a couple of dollars is sufficient. The bartender or food server does the same job whether serving at the table or bar. It is customary to leave 15 to 20 percent of the check if you are pleased with the service. Enjoying dinner at the bar should not be a way to cheat the server. Servers and bartenders work hard for below minimum wages and no benefits, and are very dependent on tips.
