Cape May - Mayoral candidate Lear writes a couple letters to our congressional delegation requesting a beach safety study without any definitive, injury-specific event documentation. At the Aug. 19 Beach Committee meeting, Cape May's chief lifeguard stated that facts do not exist and on Aug. 25, nine state and federal coastal engineers said without solid documentation a study would not be justified. Mayor Mahaney and council have taken the steps with a cooperative effort with Cape Regional Hospital to develop the actual facts. Lear's political pontification is just so much hot air.
